Today I went to visit Bee and her mother to see why she hasn’t come to church lately. They weren’t home, so I struck up a conversation with a lady across the street to ask about them. I found out that Bee’s grandfather had recently passed away and they had traveled to his village to the funeral. In the mean time, I had a great conversation with her neighbor, and after talking for almost two hours, lead her to the Lord. Later, as we were still sitting on the ground outside talking, her elderly mother came hobbling out of the house to ask what I was talking about. She said that she thought I was selling something at first, yet after listening in on our conversation, she knew it was something different. I spoke with this 84 year old lady named Yai Dum for almost another solid hour about the Lord. She had never heard of Jesus Christ and wanted to hear all about Him. It was wonderful to see her interest. Before I left, she told me that she, too, wanted to place her trust in Christ. We bowed and prayed there in the dusty yard in front of their home. I promised I’d come back to give them each a Bible, and they promised to come to church on Sunday. Praise God! Pray for these two ladies.

On Christmas Eve, the young people in the church sang several Christmas songs and the services were well attended. We had dinner on the grounds and gave gifts to those who came. The kids played games in the afternoon and I presented a message on the prophecies of Christ’s coming. It was an all day affair, and a great one! Each Christmas, I have been asked to present the story of Jesus to the English students I teach. On Christmas day, several of the church members went with us to the school where I teach English to give out gift bags. Each bag had school supplies, candy and a church brochure with the gospel message inside. We were able to speak to and give out these tracts and gift bags to over 1100 high school students and teachers.

Yesterday, Rachel and I celebrated our 8th anniversary by painting the downstairs part of our house. (Joy!) It does look a lot better down there. I bought a memory foam mattress pad to go on our bed. I ordered it from Bangkok, and it came just in time today. It felt really good on my aching back after painting all day, and into the wee hours of the morning. We’ve been working hard all week to prepare for Christmas at the church and also the school I teach at. We’re going to have a big, all day service on Sunday and then Christmas morning we are giving gifts to the students at school. Pray for Sunday.

Thanksgiving in Thailand! We have so much to be thankful for! God has been wonderful to us. We’ve completed a new church building, seen souls saved, had a new addition to our family, and by the grace of God we survived another year! It hasn’t been without problems and hardships, yet the Lord has seen us through it all. Rachel’s parents are here celebrating with us on this Thanksgiving. Lots of good food, friends and much to be thankful of has made this a wonderful day.

Tiffany Elaine Jones was born on November 16, 2006 at 2:18 PM in Udon Thani, Thailand. She weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces and was 21 inches at birth. Because of complications during an extended labor, Rachel delivered Tiffany via cesarean section. Thank you to all who prayed for Rachel and the new baby. Both are healthy and doing fine. Rachel delivered the baby here in Udon at the same hospital that Tara was born at. Rachel’s parent’s kept Tara at the house and I stayed in the hospital with Rachel. She should be released on Saturday, but will have to take it slow for a while until she recovers from the surgery. Like last time, I watched the C-section through a window. They wouldn’t let me in the room, but I did get some really neat video(i.e. disgusting, blood and guts horror movie stuff). I guess I know my wife inside and out now. Tiffany is so beautiful! A miracle, seeing I’m her father. Praise God!

We are blessed to have Rachel’s parents visiting with us here in Thailand this month. They have been such a help to both of us, especially since Rachel could go into labor at any time now. Tara is enjoying here Grandma and Papaw being here and is getting spoiled to death. She’s got her Papaw wrapped around her little finger. It’s great to see her have the attention she craves from her grandparents, since we are so far away from our family in the States. Please be praying for Rachel. She is VERY ready to have this baby, and we are all getting anxious. Maybe by the next entry I’ll have some exciting news. God bless!

Very few people have access to Thai Bibles, which cannot be purchased locally here in Udon. We do not have enough even to give to those who come to church. Will you help us provide the Word of God to the Thai people? A complete Thai Bible (Old and New Testament) can be purchased for approx. $16. If you would like to help, send funds earmarked “Thai Bible Fund” to our sponsoring church at 3210 Ave G NW, Winter Haven, Florida 33880

This month we were blessed to host the largest and most hardworking building crew yet. Fifteen members of our sponsoring church along with Pastor Tim Myers and wife Sheila flew around the world to help put the finishing touches on the new church building. Each and every person who came was such a blessing to our family and to the work. There was quite a bit of work accomplished: a pulpit, podium and communion table along with baseboards inside the building; the fence around the church property was painted; a thatch roof pavilion was erected, and the grounds were cleaned. Several ladies stayed with Rachel each day to help cook and wash for the group and were a tremendous blessing to her. The group also put on a surprise baby shower for Rachel. Though the days were miserably hot and humid, everyone worked very hard and kept smiles on their faces. Several helped pass out brochures and church fliers throughout the surrounding villages, while Bro. Doug Wiersema and Dr. Tim Myers preached and taught a three day seminar on the church. We also took some time to tour the Grand Palace in Bangkok and the Mekong River in Nong Khai across from Laos. I could go on about each person who came and how much they blessed our hearts, how hard they worked and how wonderful it was to fellowship with them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of you who came!

On October the 18th, we held a dedication service for the new church building in Udon Thani, Thailand. The auditorium can seat twice the people as our old meeting facility, yet we ran out of room to sit during the very first service with over 250 people in attendance. There were many who sat around the windows and looked through the front during the service. To many of the people that came, it was their first time hearing about the love of Jesus Christ. We had a great start to the service with a baptism in the pond behind the building, and had dinner on the grounds afterwards. Praise God for allowing us to have these new facilities after months of hard labor and construction work! Thank you to all that gave towards the building fund to help the work as we grow here in Southeast Asia. A special thanks goes out to my mother, grandmother and Doris Helton who worked so hard helping with the food and a hundred other things to make this special day possible.

Despite being eight months pregnant, Rachel has been a real trooper in the work here in Thailand. She works non-stop to keep things running smoothly, teaching an English class, teaching Sunday school, working with the young men leading music in the church, keeping house, watching Tara, and most of all putting up with me. This past month she put together a video about her life as a missionary’s wife here in Thailand. If you would like to receive one of these DVD video’s in the mail, contact us or our sponsoring church via phone or email. Pray for Rachel and the baby as she nears her due date. God’s been so good to us. We just want to thank Him and give Him praise for the great things He has done!
