“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” II Timothy 2:2. Today in the morning services, two of the young men in the church here in Udon delivered a sermon for the second time. Sharing the service, the two of them got together and planned two consecutive sermons that would compliment each other. The first sermon was on the fact of the human condition of sin and the consequences of that sin. The second sermon picked up where the first left off… teaching about the solution to the sin problem and presenting the plan of salvation. Both of these young men are natural speakers and are excited about the prospects of proclaiming the gospel. Over lunch, one of the boys (Kumpee – his name means “Bible”) asked if he could start preaching at least twice a month, then Game, our other young preacher asked to preach every other time. I told them that they would have to leave me some time to preach too. Their zeal uplifts my soul! Pray for these young men. They both have a difficult road ahead of them as they endeavor the serve the Lord in an idolatrous nation.

The Lord told his disciples to “Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while.” Sometimes, if you don’t come apart and rest, you’ll just come apart. I think the Lord knew we needed a little break, so He gave us one this month. Every thing had a break, it seemed… the van broke, the computer broke, the printer broke, and even we broke. I spent some time in the hospital with a chest infection, and Rachel ended up going to the hospital the following week, having problems with her pregnancy. We are both okay now, getting some much needed rest that we probably would have never taken on our own. The Lord also provided for us to have some time off the next week with a break from teaching English which so happened to be the mid-term break. We took that opportunity to make a trip to Bangkok for a couple of days to get some supplies and just rest. Even though it seemed at the time that everything was coming apart at the seams, the Lord knew (and always knows) what He is doing. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28

Greetings again from Udon! After being sick last week, I’ve been trying to catch up on everything, but I’ve fallen behind in writing my journal entries. A lot has been happening here. We’ve had some great services in church and our attendance has been around 70 – 80 on Sundays. The Bible doctrine class on Thursday has added 4 new students who are eager to learn about God’s Word, but have not yet made a profession of faith. Please pray for these four young men. Their names are Neung, Sawng (Twins: Their names mean One and Two), Bet and Men. The building project is progressing quickly. The roofing tiles are almost complete and the stucco work is about three-quarters done. The electrical wiring has been run, and we are starting work on the outside porch and walkway ceiling. Kak is about half-way through translating a teen Sunday school quarterly, and is also working on a primary quarterly. Rachel had a checkup on Friday and found that the baby is healthy and doing just fine. The ultrasound revealed that all the internal organs were developing normally and also showed whether it was a boy or girl. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we labor for the Lord in Thailand. May God bless you today!!!
